Roles & Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for the leadership, financial management and oversight of the multi-disciplinary, Medicare certified skilled nursing facility that serves the long-term care and rehabilitative needs of Arizona’s Veterans/members.
- Ensures that the Arizona State Veterans Home’s resources are used effectively and efficiently to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychological well-being of each Veterans/member.
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, programs, projects, policies and procedures related to the operation of the facility.
- Enforces department and facility policies and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- This position is the “face” of the Arizona State Veterans’ Home and works to build collaborative and cooperative relationships with federal and state agencies, Veteran Service Organizations and other community service groups.
- Learns, implements and monitors Arizona Management System (AMS) methods.
- Utilizes AMS concepts and tools for problem-solving and continuous work/process improvements and efficiency.
Skills Required
- Managing and directing the overall activities of multiple long-term care/skilled nursing facilities/State Veterans Homes.
- Interpretation and application of all rules and regulations pertaining to the operation of long-term care/skilled nursing/State Veteran Home.
- Developing policies and procedures
Skills Preferred
- Nursing home administration principles and practices.
- Federal and State laws governing the operations of the Arizona State Veteran Homes.
- Law, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care/skilled nursing facility administration
Experience Required
A minimum of 5-6 year experience in the administration of skilled nursing facilities.
Must have a valid Arizona Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator License
Must have a current TB Test
Must possess current license to practice as a Nursing Home Administrator in Arizona.
Frequent in-state travel is required.
Position requires driving in the course of conducting State Business: Valid driver’s license is required.
Must have a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree, although a master’s degree is desired, in Health Administration or closely related field of study.
