The Accounting Specialist 1 reviews, analyzes, and verifies employee travel claims and creates the fiscal transaction utilizing the applicable automated accounting system. These systems include the Human Resources Information Solutions (HRIS), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace applications.
This position researches unresolved financial documents and responds to traveler/employee inquiries; consults with the supervisor, presenting and resolving complex transactions.
This position applies accounting principles and practices of governmental accounting while exercising discretion and independent judgment within the Administration's established practices and performing related work as required.
Skills Required
Basic math; data entry; analysis and interpretation of financial data; good verbal and written communication; customer service; maintaining positive interpersonal relationships; effective time management; report preparation; and Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
Experience Required - Minimum of one year in Accounting. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Education Required - Highschool Diploma
